PAT Testing in Lambeth
On-site portable appliance testing for Lambeth businesses and landlords. Qualified engineers, clear reports and same-day certification.

We offer flexible appointments and fair pricing. Once testing is complete, you’ll receive appliance labels, a detailed report and same-day certification.

PAT Testing for Shared Workplaces in Lambeth
You don’t usually need to close an entire workplace for a PAT test.
A shop may rely on payment equipment during opening hours, so it can make sense to test that before customers arrive. Office staff could need their computers until the end of a shift, and shared kitchens have appliances that no one department looks after.
We can plan testing around the following types of premises:
- Offices and shared workspaces
- Shops and retail premises
- Schools and educational buildings
- Commercial units
- Shared kitchens and meeting rooms
- Landlords and rented properties
- Community buildings
Tell us which rooms we can access and when equipment can be unplugged. That helps us plan the work around the people using your building.
Planning Your PAT Testing Visit
Knowing how the building works before we arrive saves time on the day.
Let us know about shared rooms, floors with restricted access or equipment that must stay switched on during business hours. Some items will need to be unplugged briefly during testing.
A rough appliance count is useful for the quote. Remember extension leads, portable heaters and spare equipment kept in cupboards or store rooms.
We’ll discuss the visit with you beforehand, then our engineers will work through the accessible appliances on site.
PAT Testing Process
Visual Inspection
We check plugs, leads and casings for visible damage, loose connections and signs of overheating before using a test instrument.
Electrical Testing
Calibrated equipment helps us check the electrical safety of each item. We choose the tests that apply to the way the appliance is made.
Labelling & Reporting
Each tested item gets a pass or fail label. We record its result in the report and provide certification for your records.

What Happens if an Appliance Fails?
An item that fails may still be repairable. A damaged plug or cable can be the problem, though other faults may need further checks.
We identify failed items in your report so you know which appliance needs attention. Unsafe equipment should stay out of use until a competent person repairs it or you replace it.
A failure applies to that appliance, not every item in the room. You can deal with the fault and keep using equipment that passed.
A planned inspection can find damaged equipment before staff or tenants use it again.
PAT Testing for Landlords and Businesses
We provide the same on-site service for rented properties and occupied workplaces, but the best time to test can differ.

For Landlords
Arrange checks on appliances supplied with a rental property between tenancies or when access is available. PAT testing is separate from an EICR of the fixed wiring.

For Businesses
Tell us which equipment staff need during the day. We can plan the visit around access to workstations, shared rooms and other areas.
Every tested appliance has its own result, so you can see which item passed and which one needs further action.

Do You Need PAT Testing Every Year?
There is no law that says every appliance needs a PAT test once a year.
The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 require relevant electrical equipment to be kept safe. Inspection frequency should reflect the equipment, how people use it and the chance of damage.
An extension lead moved around a workplace may need checking more often than a printer that stays on the same desk. Staff should report visible faults between planned visits.
Which Electrical Tests Does an Appliance Need?
Different appliances need different tests.
Class I appliances rely on a protective earth connection, so an earth continuity test helps check it.
Class II appliances use extra insulation and have no earth connection to test. Other suitable checks can include insulation resistance testing, which checks protection against electrical faults.
If you’re unsure about a test or a suitable inspection schedule, ask us. We’ll explain what applies to your equipment.
